Birthday blog

Well, today was my birthday. It wasn't the best of days - it definitely could have been worse - but it sure was interesting. Here's a point-by-point run-down of the things that were unique about this particular birthday:

1. I have pneumonia, and I'm only on Day 2 of the 3-day antibiotic I've been given. Not quite healed yet.

2. Emma woke up this morning on fire and with a cough. Uh oh. So she and I spent 2 hours this morning at the pediatrician's office. They tested her for the flu, which she didn't have.

3. Not only did we have to go to the pediatrician, we had to go to an imaging place to get chest x-rays of her to see if she also had pneumonia. (She doesn't have that either, by the way.)

4. I was planning on taking a nap when Emma did. She fell asleep while nursing, then woke up while I was changing her diaper before putting her in her crib. It ended up taking her 2 HOURS to fall asleep. (She did end up sleeping for 2 hours, though.) Did I then take my nap? No. I couldn't sleep. I was exhausted, but my mind wouldn't shut down. I hate when that happens.

5. Today was Super Tuesday, so I had to go vote. My polling place was actually the clubhouse of our apartment complex, so that was nice, BUT my name was registered as Jaime L. Leacock. Um, not quite my name. PLUS they had me registered as non-partisan. Um, no, I'm a Republican. I could have voted, but it may or may not have been counted, so I didn't bother. Now I need to re-register.

I'll just stop there with 5, for Feb. 5, my birthday. Fun stuff, right? It was a non-stop party today.

Emma got the camera out of my purse while we were waiting at the imaging place, and she took several photos. Then she took some more later at home before bed, so I posted them on our online photo album here. Here are some examples of her photography:

The next Ansel Adams or Annie Leibovitz? You decide.

I did have a happy birthday, though. Thanks for asking.

That's all for now. More later.

Always remember: Happy birthdays are a state of mind.
