Pigtails and panties

Yesterday was the first day I ever tried putting Emma's hair in pigtails. It's finally long enough to do so! I thought you all would like to see how adorable she looked (plus I just want to show off my cute little girl).
Precious, huh? :)

She and I went to the mall yesterday and got our picture taken in one of those booths. The photos turned out so cute, and I'll post them on here as soon as I get them scanned in.

As I was in the shower this morning, Emma ran through the bathroom and into our closet. I almost died when she came out wearing my bra that had been hanging on the doorknob. She had it on upside down, but she was so proud of herself that she had gotten it on. Then she ran back in the closet and got my panties and tried to put them on. As she was trying to get them on, I ran out and got the camera. So here is Emma trying to be like mommy.

That's all for now. More later.

Sit down ... good girl

Tonight was the second Gymboree-sponsored date night. We dropped off Emma and went to see the movie Juno. It was fantastic. Excellent film. I highly recommend it. After the movie, we stopped and picked up food at Cupid's Hot Dogs and took it to go, as we had to pick up Emma.

She had a great time. Stuck by her buddy, Kendyl, the entire time. She loves Kendyl so much. After we picked her up, she kept saying, "Kendyl Kendyl Kendyl Kendyl!" So funny. She keeps saying "up-ee-down" and "side-a-side." They must have sung the Gymbo song at least once while she was there, as those things are in the song. She had me sing it for her a few times after we got home.

When we got home, we sat down in our chairs to quickly eat our dinners before putting Emma to bed. She rushed out of the room into the kitchen and hurried to the corner by the pantry, which is her normal pooping spot. We asked if she was pooping, and she said no. Normally, if you try to go into the kitchen when she's doing her business she'll say, "Bye-bye!" Or maybe, "Sowwy, sowwy (sorry, sorry)!" So I got up from my chair and said I was coming in there. She said, "Sit down!" So I walked back to my chair and sat. She could see me from her spot, and right after I sat down she said, "Good girl." It was hilarious. Chris and I laughed so hard.

That's all for now. More later.

Always remember: When the trash can is full, just take out the trash. Good girl.

Emma's 2nd birthday party

It's finally over, and we had a blast. It was chaotic at times, but it was great. Emma had a ball. I think she knew her party was coming up today, since because she was so excited she didn't take a nap at all. She chatted and played for about 2 hours in her room while my mom and I went to the grocery and picked up her cake and balloons. As we got home Chris and my dad were just getting Emma out of her room, scrapping the nap altogether.

The lack of nap didn't seem to effect Emma at the party. She was a really good girl through the whole thing. She only got a little fussy/clingy with me for a few minutes at Build-A-Bear. It was a madhouse in there, though, so I don't blame her. This is what the madness looked like:
But this is all of us after the Build-A-Bear experience, looking no worse for the wear:

After Build-A-Bear, we went to Red Robin and had appetizers and cake. The kids had a chance to run around a little down there, and they all got balloons, which was a big hit. I ordered the cake from Albertsons, and it turned out really good. I was very pleased.

Emma got a lot of great presents from her friends. She had so much fun opening and playing with them at home.

Here is the link to all the photos. There are 5 pages of pictures, so keep looking!

That's all for now. More later.

My little chatterbox and photo preview

My parents flew in today so they can attend Emma's birthday party on Sunday. Isn't that nice of them? Anyway, I have been telling Emma for days that her Mamaw and Papaw were coming to visit, and I showed her their picture this morning so she knew which ones to expect and maybe wouldn't be as shy when they got here. She was so excited when they got off the bus from the airport and walked in. She actually waved at them through the window. It was cute.

My dad sat in the back seat with her first (they're taking turns sitting next to Emma), and she talked his ear off the whole way to lunch. It was so cute. The next time we went somewhere my mom sat in back with her. We were on our way to Gymboree free play, and she was talking about Gymboree and her friends and who we were going to see. She's turned into a real chatterbox. It's really cute, and very funny.

We got Emma's 2-year-old pictures taken on her birthday on Tuesday. It wasn't the best experience we've had, and we've decided never to get her photo taken ON her birthday ever again. Nevertheless, there are some really great photos. We haven't put them on our online photo album yet for the same reason as the Christmas ones (have to wait until people get the ones we ordered for them), but I've decided to put a few on here as a sneak preview for my blog fans. You're welcome.
Isn't she gorgeous? I entered the top photo in the Regis and Kelly Beautiful Baby contest. Someone told me about it the other day and said I should enter Emma because she's so pretty. Can't argue with that. So we'll see how that pans out. Not holding my breath, but it could happen.

That's all for now. More later.
